What are the objectives of Bridge Team Management course?

The exercises of Bridge Team Management enhance teamwork and features of resource management like communication, challenge & response, situational awareness, leadership and decision making etc. The Bridge Team Management course will ensure that the navigating officers recognize the importance of proper planning, threat assessment, effective communications and good teamwork. The candidates are trained to work safely and successfully as a team.

This BTM course training is practical and theoretical; consists of a series of exercises performed on a ship-handling simulator with one or more own vessels and several others controlled by the instructor. Give attention to items such as passage planning, bridge organization and procedures, use of RADAR/ARPA/ECDIS and the management of the human resources which make up the Bridge Team.

Course Objective: In Girik, BTM course is to enhance the Bridge Team Management skills of navigating officers, they should:
